Red Brick Rumble III – May 3rd, 2025

On May 3rd, 2025, MASA is excited to bring the Red Brick Rumble 3 BACK to the Baptist Healthplex on the Mississippi College campus in Clinton, MS!

Featuring the Women’s weight classes of under 160 lbs and over 160 lbs as well as Men’s classes under 231 lbs and over 231 lbs with CASH PRIZES. 

1st place: $250

2nd place: $125

3rd place: $75

Registration is $75 ($50 early bird special before January 1st). It is nonrefundable (included competition shirt and swag bag).

Registration for the teen division is $30 and the weights will be posted after testing, if we have interested teen athletes.

Event Summary:

A. Double Dumbbell Press Ladder.

• Athletes will clean and press four pairs of hex dumbbells, lightest to heaviest. The fastest athlete to complete all four pairs wins.
• All gear is allowed except for tacky and straps.
• This will require testing and will possibly be adjusted.

-160 women- 25’s/35’s/45’s/55’s

+160women- 30’s/40’s/50’s/60’s

-231 men- 65’s/75’s/85’s/95’s

+231 men- 70’s/80’s/90’s/100’s

B. Max Trap Bar Deadlift

* Every athlete will have 3 attempts. There is a 30 second time limit per attempt to complete a rep once given the start command.

* We will have a rising bar format. Athletes do not have to complete every weight jump. 3 attempts only.

* Women will have 20 lb jumps, men will alternate between 40 OR 50 lb jumps.

* We will request athlete’s openers at weigh-ins and adjust the lane starting weights accordingly. You won’t get to call your exact opener but this give us an idea of what weights the lanes will begin with.

* Athletes are allowed to strap in before the time starts.

* Athletes must have knees, hips, and shoulders locked out before the head judge is allowed to give them the down command. The competitor MUST wait for the down command or a no rep will be given.

* Allowed: Belts, chalk, sleeves, wraps, straps, figure 8’s, barefoot.

* Not Allowed: Suits, tacky, dropping from the top. 

C. Torque Tank Push to Sandbag Load Medley.

• Each athlete will push a Torque Tank (sled) 35 feet.
• The athlete will then run back to the start line and pick, carry, and load the sandbag into their Torque Tank.
• A 2 second slide penalty will also be implemented at the discretion of the judge.
• The athlete will then push the Tank 35 feet back to the starting line. The fastest athlete wins.
• If the bag falls out of the tank the athlete must stop immediately, reload the bag into the tank, then complete the course.
• Tanks may need additional base weight upon further testing.
• All gear is allowed except for tacky and suits.

Light women- 125

Heavy women- 175

Light men- 250

Heavy men- 300

D. Red Brick Hammer Hold

• Athletes must hold the implements straight out from the torso.
• Elbows must stay locked out.
• Using the fists as a guide the implement must not go below chin level or higher than eye level.
• Athletes may get one warning from the judge to correct the form.
• Next time the level is broken, time will be stopped.
• Allowed- elbow sleeves, belts, wrist wraps.
• Not allowed- tacky, straps.
• This event also functions as the tie breaker.

E. Single, Single, Double Farmer Carry

• Athlete will carry one farmer handle with one hand 25 feet, set it down, run back and grab the second farmer with one hand and carry it 25 feet, then pick both farmers at the same time and bring them back 25 feet.
• Fastest athlete wins, unlimited drops.
• The athlete is not allowed to use two hands on one single implement at any time. At the judge’s discretion, a warning can be given if they believe the athlete is trying to use both hands on a single farmer. In the event of a second infraction, the athlete will receive a zero for this event.
• A 2 second slide penalty will also be implemented at the discretion of the judge.
• All equipment is allowed except for knee wraps and tacky.
